Tony,
Interesting perspective. Having a goal focuses our intention. The gap between where we are and our goal generates energy. If we focus on the gap, we may lose heart and settle for where we are. If we act as if the goal is already acheived, the "gap" energy helps to magnetize the resources of the world to align with our intention.

Your comments are excellent. As someone who regularly plans, I did not stop to think about the various rates of achievement in more concrete terms. Thanks for bringing this important point to my attention. Your timing could not be better.

Wow! To actually read about the types of progress brought clarity to life experience. Often for me I can experience a thing but lack the language to even convey to myself what is happening. I've observed society's push to succeed fast and can say this constant, if one is not careful as to not get caught up in it, can open up a space for emotions such as anger, fustration, actions of quiting, giving up and changing directions. I was able to look at the benefits of being discipline--'being discipline' w/ the exclusion of whatever I've decided doesn't belong in the regiment, not just using discipline to get something else. Since I'm not a car the natural rate of progress suits me well! Thanks a Million Tony :)

Tony -
This is extremely helpful! You're absolutely right, often we become discouraged and give up on plans prematurely because we think we're not "on track". As you pointed out, many processes are not linear.
